Boxes that have any reference to or logo of alcohol products aren't accepted by USPS. However, they can be used if you turn them inside out. I also use Elmer's or similar glue to secure the glue flap when re-assembling a box that I turn inside out, then a little extra tape to be safe. You can save money by reusing but sometimes the extra time and effort aren't really worth it, I'd rather find an appropriate box that's usable without the extra work.

CLEAN reclaimed boxes are great but if reusing a box watch for the ORM-D symbol. It means Other Restricted Material - Domestic. It'll disqualify for some shipping or raise the price significantly. If you see it cover it well, turn the box inside out or simply use a different box.

Heavy items need more than one strip of tape to close the package, and stronger tape at that. I use filament tape to secure the end flaps of package then the wide cellophane tape to seal it. I also suggest finding a tape dispenser or two, cheap at yard sales and worth every penny.
