We have been selling online for 5 years now, using eBay and many other online selling services. Our items can be a large variety of things, from many different places. They maybe items we find locally or from our great consignors. We can and do sell just about anything and we always research our items and pay close attention to detail to give our buyers the best buying experience in every way. We serve the local towns listed at the bottom and may serve more depending on the item or items, also if you are willing to drop it off at The Family Next Door. We run a simple service and most items have No up front fees. In alot of cases if you can pick the item up yourself then just call for a drop off time that works for you and to see if your item is a good candidate for consignment. If it is then clean it up a bit, drop it off and set back and wait for the check in the mail ! We will also come to you if your item is to big to bring in like a car, boat, tractor, machinery, toys, furnisher, Whatever ! or think it would just be better left on your property, also maybe you just have a lot of stuff and don't know where to start...Sometime you'd be surprised what things are worth that have been laying around for years you haven't gave two thoughts about. Our commission is 20% for items selling up to $1000, after a $1000 it can be reasonably discussed. The commission is only paid after a item is sold. A base fee of $7.20 an hour is charged for any work done toward selling the consignors item like, but not limited to, cleaning, pictures, fixing, listing, infield work and resreach. Average base fee for a clean, simple item dropped off is $3-$5, but not limited. Average base fee for a local, simple go to ( infield work ) item $10-$18, but not limited. We also can have costs involved in the marketing and/or selling of your item and can range from 0.5 to 20% of the sale price. It really depends on how we sell it and how high of price it sells for. If your item does not sell, your marketing costs are usually very small. The base fee and all selling/marketing costs are due to The Family Next Door after the consignment ends on an item, if it sells or not. Every once in awhile bigger items may have up front fees and it is rare that we don't sell the consignors item. Total average percent taken from the final sale price of your item really varies quite a bit, because we don't set a flat rate of maybe 50% like most consignment businesses do. We like to keep it fair 20% and time spent plus costs. Sometimes there is only a little selling cost or a lot less then 50% anyway, we try to put as much money in your pocket as possible. Just to give you a idea, we have added a chart of the total average percent taken out of the final sale price including everything fees, commission, base fees and costs to us to sell your item. If your item sells for one of these prices and it all depends on how and were we end up selling it, how we receive the money for your item, what has to be done to sell your item, ect. It can be totally different for each item. .........................................$50, 35 to 50% Avg. 43% = Avg. payout of $28.50--- $100, 25 to 45% Avg. 35% = Avg. payout of $65--- $500, 21 to 40% Avg. 30.5% = Avg. payout of $347.50--- $1000, 20.5 to 37% Avg. 28.75% = Avg. payout of $715--- $2000, blank to 30% Avg. 22.6% = Avg. payout of $1548................ This is the very highest to the very lowest percent % and also shows the average percent % taken. It will drop rapidly after the first $1000 and when you figure in that in alot of cases we can sell your item for much more than you can sell it for localy, your making out pretty good and you don't have to do any of the work involved in selling it. Most times without taking a dime out of your pocket... Also we will not sell your item for anything less than what you want in your hand for it after all fees and commission are payed. Larger items we sell and ship to the whole U.S. Smaller easier to ship items we sell and ship to the Whole World ! Having Millions of buyer helps the price go up. Selling with us you are way more likely to get a better price for your item then trying to sell it yourself localy, even with paying our commission & all you have to do is wait for the money !
