I have been attending a small Southern Baptist church for about 3 years or more. This is what is know as a church plant started by the Pittsburgh-Southern Baptist Association. They help fund the start up of it and help oversee it until it is able to stand as a Church. The Pastor is about 38 years old, he and his wife have spent several years on the mission field in the Soviet Union. He is from South Carolina and she is from the Pittsburgh area. Their parents are getting up in age and requested to stay in the states for awhile. We have really enjoyed attending the church. We do not have a building so therefore we meet at a local inn near Latrobe, PA. Last Sunday a little lady (who has been attending also for about 3 years) ask us what our last name was. I told her my name. She began to tell me she belonged to the Presidential Prayer Team ( http://www.presidentialprayerteam.org/site/PageServer?pagename=ppt_homepage ) which is a non-partisan web site that people join free and pray for our nation, leaders, and our military. They also have what is called adopt a troop part of the site where members can list a solder and have people pray for them on a regular basis. She told me she had a solder's name and has been praying for him for over a year, I wonder if you might know (and I interrupted and said stated my son's name) she said yes. I began to tremble because I knew God was speaking to me directly through this woman. This was no accident! This was a God incident! I told her he was recently activated and due to go to Iraq in September. Well she was just as shocked and moved as I was. The bottom line is, I was going to church with this lady totally unaware God was working through her to pray for a member of my family. Isn't God awesome, just when we sometimes wonder if he even knows we exist he takes the time to just blow us down with His love and compassion. I still am not over it! What else can I say.

Yesterday was September 11, 2007; a day of memorial for those who lost their lives during the attack of September 11, 2001. I remember exactly where and what I was doing on that day as most Americans do. At the time I did not know within one month I would be moving from East Tennessee to Western Pennsylvania. I now live about 25 miles from where Flight 93 crashed on that day. After I was moved and settled, I just had to visit the site and pay my respects to those brave Americans that died. As I was approaching the site a sense of reverence and all came over me. It was as though I was approaching holy ground, a place where human lives on this earth ended and an eternal life began. A place where God had been, was and is to this day. May their souls rest in peace and may God be with and bless their families. May we never forget their sacrifices!
  • What is a REBKEE?

    5:56 AM PST, 9/4/2007

A REBKEE is someone born and raised in the South and moved North above the Mason Dixon line. To the Southerners (Rebels) you have become a trader and now sorta sound like a Yankee. To the Northerners (Yankees) you sound like a Southerner and they have a hard time understanding you when you speak. After 6 years of living above the Mason Dixon line you begin to understand that both the North and the South are wonderful places to live and have wonderful people. Wouldn't life be boring if we were are the same!
