There were plenty of different shades of Arctic Cat Purple, even in 1971 when it was first introduced. Depending on the graphics on the snowmobiles and the material in the vintage Arctic Wear garments the 1971 and 1972 colors varied from the original Arctic Cat Purple, PMS-252(Pantone) = DuPont RS151 and throughout the years there was even more variety. In the 1990s you even saw deep purple, not the band Deep Purple (one of my old favorites). I have a 1970's Arctic Cat Purple women's Glacierider jacket from the two-piece Glacierider snowmobile suit on eBay right now. This one has a Arctic Cat Purple shell with white stripes down the arms bordered with black piping. And there are 4 front pockets outlined with white piping, and a white embroidered "Cat Head". Ski-Doo was making a fashion statement with their 1973 women's one-piece snowmobile suit with its trench coat style back pocket yoke, the forward facing non-functional epaulettes on the shoulders, and the red and white stripes over the opalescent/iridescent blue shell. It's like they were 3 years early for the 1976 patriotic celebration commemorating the American Revolution in 1776. This red, white and blue beauty is one of my vintage snowmobile suits I am now making available for someone else to enjoy. As the snowmobiles evolved during the 1970's and beyond so did the winter fashions they provided to compliment their snowmobiles. During the mid to late 1970's many of the snowmobiling clothing lines got more color variations and different styling. I have a vintage Polaris snowmobiling jacket that I believe is from the mid to late 1970's that has some color and style similar to an Arctic Wear VIP jacket with different shades of blue in layered inlays. I call them the Blue-winged Teal jackets due to the similarities to the markings on those beautiful waterfowl. It is a men's size Large-Long and it is in great condition. I used to have an old Starcraft Holiday 18 foot aluminum runabout with an 85HP Johnson V-4 cylinder motor. That motor was powerful and usually very reliable. After being stranded a couple times and having issues with starting and cutting out I realized the coating on some of the wires was peeling off from age and causing shorts. I searched for a new wiring harness and ordered it at a great discount from an associate. When I finally got around to working on it I realized the harness sent to me was the wrong one. I need the harness for the electric shift motor which had 3 more wires in the main plug. It was much to late to return it, by a couple years. I no longer have the boat and motor and I certainly have no use for the wiring harness, so out it goes. CDI Electronics part number 413-9910 aftermarket wire harness replaces OEM part number 0382777 (382777) for the 1968 Johnson Evinrude V-4 4CYL 85HP motor without electric shift. That is what they used to call the vintage John Deere snowmobiling suits, The Beautiful Bodyguards. They were beautiful suits indeed, with vibrant colors and nice styling. From what history I could find, the original John Deere Green and Yellow and Black was joined by Red in 1978 and then subsequently Blue, Orange, Brown, and different shades of them all. John Deere snowmobiles were only on the market for a little over a decade but they made some great snowmobiles and their legacy lives on. So does their clothing line in the eyes of the collectors. An important aspect of the sport of snowmobiling is that it can be enjoyed by the entire family. Getting the kids interested and involved is something they will cherish for a lifetime. Even racing is a family sport. Whether you are into vintage snowmobiles, classics, or the modern snowmobiles, being able to "suit up" to match your sled makes it all that much more enjoyable. Most manufacturers of snowmobile clothing and winter fashions make matching styles for the kids from infant to the pre-teen and young adult. Arctic Wear, under the Arctic Cat brand has been one of the snowmobile brands that has offered youth clothing all the way back to the 1960's. Right now I have a Youth size Large "Tiger" jacket from the two piece snowmobile suit from 1989 on eBay. The "Tiger" snowmobile suit complimented the Arctic Cat El Tigre EXT snowmobile. This jacket has been worn very little and the only issue are two faint superficial scratch like marks on each sleeve. I have had this old half helmet for quite awhile in storage. It is white and has the blue Sno Jet decals on it and blue pin-striping all around that is a heavy tape, and not decals. It reminds me of an old Harley-Davidson bobber that a relative had back in the 1960's that he put Ski-Doo stickers on. He used it during decent weather for trips out to the woods and up to the wood shed with his old Ski-Doo. I sold my old Sno Jet many years ago so no longer have any use for this helmet. It would be nice for display if cleaned up a bit. Just listed on eBay is a Team Arctic, Arctic Cat Racing helmet in an XL size. Excellent condition with just some tiny scratches and marks. Believed to be a 1999 model due to a manufacturer date stamp of 98 - 1, and inspection date of June 11, 1998. DOT approved. PFP I model with a dual lens face shield. Used very little from the looks of it. I have an awesome 1990's Polaris Indy jacket on eBay right now in a men's Large. Other than a little faint soiling stains and shadowing it is in excellent condition. That's what it says on one of the vintage snowmobiling patches on the stylish one-of-a-kind 1977 VIP Arctic Wear snowmobile suit jacket by Arctic Cat. The 1977 Arctic Wear underwent a size adjustment, slightly roomier. This VIP jacket has a custom elastic waist band sewn in for a form fit, and is one of a kind.
