In my last post I touched on the Red White and Blue color schemes for many of the vintage snowmobiles and their winter fashion and clothing themes. Here is another red, white, and blue vintage jacket. This one is a Kawasaki brand made by Swingster-World of Wearables of Bonner Springs, Kansas. I don't know if it was intentional but many of the vintage snowmobile manufacturers used Patriotic colors not only on their snowmobiles but also in their clothing themes. Polaris was one of them. Many of the Polaris winter wear clothing items used the red, white, and blue theme. I have a vintage Polaris Snowmobiles winter jacket right now on eBay with a bright red shell, wide white stripes down either side, white pocket flaps, a red white and blue chevron on one shoulder, and blue knit cuffs. Many of the vintage snowmobile manufacturers also offered winter fashions to compliment their snowmobile lines. Rupp Snowmobiles was no exception. Here is an old school snow suit from Rupp of Mansfield, Ohio. It features the early Rupp black and red coloring. This is a women's medium I believe. Every once in awhile I come a cross a very rare and inexplainable piece of clothing. This vintage "Arctic Purple", Arctic Cat one piece coverall snow suit is such an item. The Arctic Purple theme started in 1971. There was an Arcticrider one piece snowmobile suit available in 1971 for the women's style. The sizing for 1971 changed. This suit has the 1970 style "swoosh" label and sizing. This suit has 3 ribbon accents which included the Scotchlite reflective striping but they are in different placement of the 1971 Arcticrider in the product brochures. This suit didn't come with a detachable hood as the others did. This suit didn't have the Arctic Cat Snowmobiles embroidered patch with the famous "Cat Head" on it. The Woman's purple Arcticrider suit in the catalogs had diamond quilting and this one has lincoln log style vertical quilting. It is my feeling that this suit was either one that was manufactured in Canada, or it was a prototype or transition between the 1970 and 1971 styles. I have it listed on eBay. Dacron 88® insulation for cozy comfort to -40 degrees F. The Scotchlite® reflective material centering the tri-color ribbons can be seen from 500 feet by automotive headlights. Additional features; action shoulders, soft Orlon collar and cuffs with the classic Arctic Cat colors. It is rare that you can find one of these suits that doesn't have damage to the tri-colored ribbons and isn't worn out in the seat or knees. This suit that I have on eBay right now is in very good to excellent condition with only a little light soiling and some spots on the back of one arm where something was splashed on it. Ski-Doo was making a fashion statement with their 1973 women's one-piece snowmobile suit with its trench coat style back pocket yoke, the forward facing non-functional epaulettes on the shoulders, and the red and white stripes over the opalescent/iridescent blue shell. It's like they were 3 years early for the 1976 patriotic celebration commemorating the American Revolution in 1776. This red, white and blue beauty is one of my vintage snowmobile suits I am now making available for someone else to enjoy. That is what it says on one of the vintage patches on a cool vintage Ski-Doo snowmobiles jacket now listed on eBay. This one is a men's X-Large and it is in great shape.
