Recognise this month's cover fragment?  It's taken from the 1964 Crest edition of the Gunter Grass novel The Tin Drum - the true first edition was published in 1959.  The vintage paperback is Crest Book number M691. The cover is so iconic it has been recycled for more recent editions.   The image captures both the toy drum given to protagonist Oskar Matzerath on his birthday as well as his childlike outlook (in the story, he distrusts the adult world so much, he refuses to grow up).
