Every once in awhile I come a cross a very rare and inexplainable piece of clothing. This vintage "Arctic Purple", Arctic Cat one piece coverall snow suit is such an item. The Arctic Purple theme started in 1971. There was an Arcticrider one piece snowmobile suit available in 1971 for the women's style. The sizing for 1971 changed. This suit has the 1970 style "swoosh" label and sizing. This suit has 3 ribbon accents which included the Scotchlite reflective striping but they are in different placement of the 1971 Arcticrider in the product brochures. This suit didn't come with a detachable hood as the others did. This suit didn't have the Arctic Cat Snowmobiles embroidered patch with the famous "Cat Head" on it. The Woman's purple Arcticrider suit in the catalogs had diamond quilting and this one has lincoln log style vertical quilting. It is my feeling that this suit was either one that was manufactured in Canada, or it was a prototype or transition between the 1970 and 1971 styles. I have it listed on eBay.
