Auctiva's 250+ unique eBay Listing Template designs make listings stand out and look professional by breaking up
descriptions into easy-to-digest segments. This tutorial will show you how to copy and paste the Auctiva template's
HTML into your eBay listing.
Introduction
To extract Auctiva template's HTML code, you'll need to use the Auctiva One-Page Lister to build your listings.
This will let you add a listing title, description, product images (using the free 100MB image hosting), Seller
Details Profile (i.e., payment, shipping, about us, contact us and terms of sale information), and all the listing
template customizations that you need to make the listing appear as you'd like. You can then save these listings in
your Auctiva account for future use on eBay.
Step 1. Create a Seller Details Profile.
This step is optional. If you want to include any or all of the Seller Details (i.e., payment, shipping, about us,
contact us and terms of sale information) in the listing template you're going to copy, you want to complete this
step. If you simply want the title, item description and product images added to your listing template, skip to Step
2.
- In Auctiva, hover your mouse over the Profiles tab and click on the "Create New" link in the Seller Details
section (Figure 1.1). The Seller Details page will load.
- The editor will allow you to shift to HTML for elements of the Seller Details profile. To shift from Standard to
HTML click on the Source button (Figure 1.2).
- Enter your seller details. See complete instruction on how to do this in our How to Create a Seller Details Profile
tutorial.
- Click the Save button.
- Enter a name for your Seller Details and click the Save As New button.
Step 2. Create a New Listing.
In this step, you'll create a new listing in the Auctiva One-Page Lister with the template and information you want
to export. Then you'll save that listing and copy its HTML code (Step 3) to use on eBay.
- Hover your mouse over the Listings tab and click on the Create New button (Figure 2.1). The Auctiva One-Page
Lister will load. There are many different sections in this page. You'll only need to fill out the fields that
will display in the listing template you'd like to export.
- Scroll down the page until you see the Item Details section.
- Enter your listing's information, add photos if desired and choose a template for your listing. For complete
details on how to create a listing, review our Complete Lister Details tutorial.
- When you're done, scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the Preview button (Figure 2.2-A) to check for
errors. Make any necessary changes.
- Click on the Save button (2.2-B) at the bottom of the page when you're finished with the listing. A confirmation
message will display.
Step 3. Get HTML code for listing template.
- Hover your mouse over the Listings tab and click on the "Saved" link (Figure 3.1). The Saved Listings will load.
- Find the saved listing you just created in the Saved Listings section (Figure 3.2-A).
- Click on the HTML icon for the saved listing (Figure 3.2-B). A pop-up window will load with the HTML code.
- Click on the Select All button to select the listing template HTML code (Figure 3.3).
- Copy the HTML code by pressing Ctrl+C (PC), Cmd+C (Mac), or by right-clicking your mouse and selecting "Copy."
Step 4. Paste HTML code to eBay listing.
Now, we'll take this code to eBay's listing tools and insert the code in the appropriate location on eBay's Sell
Your Item form.
- Instructions for eBay's Sell Your Item
- Open a new Internet browser window and log in to your eBay.com account.
- Hover your mouse over the Sell menu on the top of the page and click on the Sell an item link.
- Click on the Start Selling button.
- Follow the instructions for the "Tell Us What You Sell" step to either start a new listing or
finish one you've already created. Eventually, you'll move on to the "Create Your Listing" step.
- In the "Create Your Listing" step, scroll down the page until you find the "Describe the item
your selling" box (Figure 4.1).
- Click on the HTML tab. Click the mouse in the empty field to place your mouse cursor in the HTML field.
- Paste the HTML code you copied in Step 3 into this field by pressing Ctrl+C (PC), Cmd+C (Mac), or by
right-clicking your mouse and selecting "Paste." The HTML code from your listing will display (Figure 4.1).
This completes the task of using an Auctiva Template within eBay.
