eBay's Lorrie Norrington

Lorrie Norrington, president of eBay Marketplaces, is leaving the company for "personal family reasons," eBay announced today.

In her five years at eBay, Norrington rose through the management ranks, becoming president of the global Marketplaces team in July 2008. In that time, she has overseen a number of significant—and, often, controversial—changes to the site that were part of eBay's three-year plan to reinvent itself.

In a released statement, eBay CEO John Donahoe praised Norrington's contributions to the company.

"Lorrie has led eBay Marketplaces through significant fundamental change as we drive a multiyear turnaround strategy to enhance the shopping experience for buyers and sellers and evolve eBay as a global ecommerce and mobile commerce leader," he said.

eBay says it will conduct an external search for Norrington's replacement. In the interim, the Marketplaces management team will report to Donahoe.
